New York City

Brooklyn

Often defined as the cultural capital of the world or the city that never sleeps is the most populated city in the world is comprised of five boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. A global power city indeed; heavily influencing world commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment. The most prevalent landmarks are the Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building, The Rockefeller Center, Grand Central Terminal, Times Square, New York Harbor, Central Park, The GE building, The American Museum of Modern Art , and the list goes on. The most culturally diverse city in the world also yields a wide array of gourmet food and delicatessens as well acclaimed street vendors. New York City plays a major role in international diplomacy in that is the home of the United Nations Headquarters.

The most populated of the New York City’s five boroughs and the second largest in area along with being the second most densely populated county in the United States, surpassed by Manhattan. Brooklyn is the westernmost county that is technically located on Long Island. Brooklyn is best known for their NBA sports team, The Brooklyn Nets. If Brooklyn were a city of its own, it would rank the 4th most populated city in all of the United States. Bay Ridge is a prime neighborhood in Brooklyn that is best known for having a strong family presence and steep steps. It was originally called “Yellow Hook”, due to the yellow hue of the soil, but this was changed during the time of the yellow fever in 1853 to avoid negative connotation. It is conveniently surrounded by the Belt Parkway and Gowanus Expressway which makes the area easily accessible by car.
